Assorted Space Nerdery

  • I'm sure there's excellent science being done, but isn't NASA worried about angering the Martians by blowing shit up?
  • I've gotten this email from a few people, and No, Mars will not be so close to the Earth that it appears as big as the full moon. Mars is occasionally a few thousand kilometers closer than usual, but it's still about 250 times further away from us than the Moon. So chill out everyone.

Mars will be so close to the Earth that it will be mistaken for a large red SUV in the sky. The resulting delay in traffic as on-lookers slow down to watch it will cripple traffic in developed nations around the world. The death toll could rival that of the Spanish flu.
