A Profile In Courage

Buried at the end of this article about deteriorating Chinese-Japanese relations comes this quote from a Chinese author:
"We criticize Yasukuni Shrine, but we have Mao Zedong's shrine in the middle of Beijing, which is our own Yasukuni," he said. "This is a shame to me, because Mao Zedong killed more Chinese than the Japanese did. Until we are able to recognize our own problems, the Japanese won't take us seriously."
Hoo boy. To call Mao Zedong a war criminal takes enormous balls in China. On the plus side, the only thing the article says happened to him was his book "disappearing" from bookshelves. Hopefully that's all that does happen.
