How Relevant Will The NDP Be?

Quick question: If we get our wish, and the NDP pulls the Liberals to the left for the remainder of this Parliament, what possible reason do Canadians have to vote for the NDP in sufficient numbers to form a government? Isn't an NDP-Lib coalition (formally or not) kind of the best of both worlds for most Canadians?

Well i can't speak for all
Canadians but i think a permanent alliance (official or not) is a terrible idea. And i'm not even on the far left of the NDP, although i would qualify as left.

The NDP would just end up taking the place that left liberal's used to (none of whom have any power and most of whom have left). Ideology in the parties and where they come from is totally different. Would the NDP have had the chance to influence the budget the way it did if it was part of the Liberals?

The term "Red Tory" used to mean BOTH Conservatives that believed in social programs because the people couln't take care of themselves and it was better (and preffered the NDP over the Liberals) and NDP members who prefered the Conservatives because they would keep social programs. The Liberal party was just the buisness party.

Obviously a lot of that has changed but i think some of it it still shows in the Liberal party (meanwhile Red Tory's are hard to find) and there are none in the CPC caucus from what i see.

Just my opinion though
