How Many Schoolchildren?

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Encore Software Ltd said on Tuesday it would launch a range of cheap desktops costing between $230 to $280, three years after it launched the $200 "Simputer," a handheld device.
This is why Linux is going to win the fight - not because of American or European activists or hackers, but because of Chinese and Indian schoolchildren, and the desire of their governments to roll out cheap (REALLY cheap) computers. Look at the low-end sticker price there - $230? Christ, you can't buy Win XP for $230, much less the computer to run it on.

So, there's got to be what, a billion Indian and Chinese school children? I'm pretty sure that's a bigger market than... oh, anyone.
