I'm still here. Honest. Have an essay due on Tuesday, plus Vicki's in town, so blogging is third- or fourth-level priority.

My essay is going to be about the impacts of the Meiji Restoration in Japan, 1868. Because I'm always looking for analogs for modern society, I'm sure I'll have more to write about this later.
