Adventures in cooking

I can now cook shepherd's pie, though I'm debating whether the "too much meat/not enough potato" situation is really a problem I want to solve in the future or not.

Update: JetSetter demands pics, and recipe.

Here's one:

Okay, it probably looked better before the fiancée and myself had seconds. If you look closely you can see that the mashed potatoes don't quite make it in to the corners. Spreads quite thin, actually.

As for two (the recipe) start with this and double the amount of gravy the recipe calls for. If you really want the authentic, Dymaxion World-certified experience, use about 25% less potatoes than the recipe suggests. Next time I make it, I'm thinking I'll replace the peas with corn.

Yes, I consult the internet for recipes. Yes, Rachael Ray has some utility.

Alright, so it's not alright to post something like that without also posting the recipe and a pic or two...

Hey, DW, I was looking for someone environmentalist to tell me if this article illustrates important truths or is just bad newspaper science. So if you know, or run across someone discussing it, could you reply to this? It just seems like there's a "trick" here and I don't know if it's in the assumptions, my intuitions about Google and tea kettles, or what.

Is this conclusive evidence that Rachael Ray is not a terrorist?

Too much meat, not enough potato? And how, exactly, is that a problem?

Upon a more detailed inspection (microwaved leftovers) it appears confirmed: extra-meaty shepherd's pie is not, in fact, a problem.

I found a big discussion of the article I was asking about (thanks to Tyler Cowen). Not the Google search part, but as far as a Second Life avatar using as much electricity as a Brazilian, it's true as long as you remember that doesn't count heating oil and other energy. But the carbon and kwh of running the avatar are said to be similar to driving an SUV for an hour a day.
