This is a few days old, but it's important: The NYT reports that Al Qaeda has basically re-created it's training infrastructure, this time in Pakistan. So not only has the war in Afghanistan not eradicated the AQ presence there, but it's actually managed to drive them in to a country that will be even harder to dislodge them from. Pakistan, after all, is not going to be invaded or subject to regime change except from within. (Nuclear weapons, y'dig?)
I remember when the war first started, post 9/11, I disagreed strongly with people to my left who argued that the war in Afghanistan wouldn't solve anything, and would only make things worse.
Damn George Bush for making me look like an idiot.
