The supposed "dovishness" of France is a topic I invariably mention in lecture, usually while citing the following statistic:The number of Canadian dead in all of WWI and WWII is a bit over 100,000. I'd have to check my numbers, but I think there are single weeks where the Soviets lost more souls fighting the Nazis.
