On self-negating hypotheses

1) Whine about the under-powered rental Kia you've got for the weekend.

2) Get nailed by a polite, courteous OPP officer for, uh, substantially exceeding the posted speed limit.

Still, it's very difficult, when the officer asks "why were you going so fast?", to not respond "because it's awesome."

Jet more proof that humankind is a species made up of idiots. (And I include myself in this.)

If you get into a conversation about driving, all the interesting and thus "cool" stories are about speeding, doing doughnuts in parking lots, racing, etc. etc. etc.....

Start reminiscing about driving with a group of guys and see how long it takes you to get a story like the following:

"Oh yeah man, we were cruising along in my Dad's Olds. It was a clear night, empty road. I buried the needle in the sucker and I have no idea how fast I was going."

Indeed, I was an idiot.

In my defense, I feel like I should be congratulated for managing to get the car up to that speed...

So, here's a question. Let's say electric powered vehicles have the wherewithall to become speed balls on the road. Would it have the same thrill for most (no shit there I was) drivers if there is no roaring vroom of engine to go with it?

I love you dearly, and speeding is awesome, but I'm not paying for the ticket.

Incidentally, happy birthday.

Hugs and kisses,
your fiancee.

Absolutely! The torque out of an electric motor (if done properly) could make accelerating from a dead stop feel like a roller coaster in free fall! Yee haw!

Damn, I just drooled on my keyboard....

Uphill or downhill? ;)
