WALL-E: the latest example of liberal fascism.
There's something about these people that simply doesn't work like normal brains. They loved The Incredibles, which they perceived to have a strong libertarian message. So did I, and I strongly disagree with most libertarians on, oh, most everything.
Did this stop me from enjoying the movie? Not one bit, anymore than the simply awful racism and misogyny in a movie like 300 keeps me from enjoying the above-average action flick inside. I thought there was a lot about Team America that was too juvenile and stupid, but a lot that was really damn funny, despite the fact that I think Stone and Parker are vastly overrated. Nevertheless, I've probably watched TA two or three times now. Because it's a movie, you morons.
Why you would close yourself off from the broadest possible enjoyment of human culture because of something as trivial as a perceived slight to your politics, I'll never understand.

Gawd that Goldberg is an idiot...honestly
Actually, I hated Chronicles of Narnia. It was all the subtle brainwashing of kids that bothered me. Girls think too much; eldest male children are born leaders no matter how stupid they are; kids get weapons for Xmas. That stuff was really annoying.
On second thought...it was the fact that the movie was boring and stupid that actually bothered me.
Never mind.
The fellow who wrote that letter is quite a piece of work. He reminds me of those folks who enthusiastically bubble on about how some book or other "changed my life" -- for example, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, or, I kid you not, The Da Vinci Code.
If there's so little in your life and/or mind that just one book can change it, you need a better sampling technique.
The other day I was in a "magic" store. Not the kind conjurers go to, the New Age kind, with crystals and chimes and charms and dreamcatchers and such, and of course the books. Right there on the shelf, along with all the other self-proclaimed gurus like Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Eckhardt Tolle, Matsuro Emoto and the like, were two that I hadn't expected to see but who definitely belonged there: Dr. Phil and Suze Orman.
Seems to me, judging by the kind of fan this letter indicates he has, Jonah Goldberg belongs there too.
