Dreams of his father

Jon Schwarz is a genius, so I'm just going to steal this post in its entirety.
It's September 12, 2001. You're sitting in front of a TV, watching footage of the World Trade Center collapse over and over and over again.

All of a sudden, someone from seven years in the future walks out of a tiny temporal vortex, and tells you: George W. Bush is going to fuck this up so badly that in 2008, the United States of America will likely elect as president a black man whose middle name is Hussein and whose father was Muslim. Oh, and he also admits he's used cocaine.

I think it would have been easier to convince me of the reality of time travel. "No, no, I believe you really are from the future. But the other stuff, that's CRAZY."

But of course George Bush REALLY USED cocaine, was photographed doing so, used it frequently, and there are many eyewitness accounts of this. This combined with his alcoholic behavior. Every problem Bush faced his father got him out of whether it was failing his way through yale or going AWOL at the air national guard. Bush didn't fuck things up in his mind he acted as anyone who wasn't actually elected by the popular will of the people would, with total incompetance. He did things exactly how they were intended. Of course everyone with a brain KNEW in 2001 the utter disaster his intentional behavior would cause. Like Reagan he was completely incompetent. So incompetent he couldn't even speak English correctly. By contrast the president we have now received a full ride scholarship to Harvard for being so intelligent and capable. He's so intelligent that he shot right up through the ranks. It is completely irrelevant what his middle name was. He'll be among the best presidents we ever had.
