Worse than the year of my birth

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Gasoline prices have soared to levels never seen before as even the inflation-adjusted price for a gallon of unleaded topped the 1981 record spike in price that had stood for 26 years.

And higher prices could be on the way as Americans get ready to hit the road for the Memorial Day holiday and the start of the summer driving season.

The Lundberg Survey, a bi-weekly gas price tracking service, put the price of a gallon of unleaded at $3.18 in its latest reading released late Sunday, up more than 11 cents from its reading of two weeks ago.
Who wants to put money on gas at $4/gallon by August? Do I hear $5? Oil at $90/barrel?

Haw haw, you're old.

Don't feel too bad -- working with people who were born post-USSR kind of freaks me out.

You too Mike? Geezzzzz.

I've been wondering at the significance that most of my favorite blogs are written by kids born in the decade after mine (John here, Olaf, D. Mader, etc.).

Its weird when the generation gap walks up and smacks you in the face. I've been in IT since the early 90's (before the Internet was widely available) and when I mention DOS and Windows 3.1 to my techs, they look at me with a blank expression. I can't reconcile myself to computer nerds raised on Windows 98.

Ah well.... Gotta go find some punch cards, 8 inch floppies and relive the past.....
