Suck it, Prius owners

How does a $13,000 car that gets 157mpg sound? The car looks like they basically followed Amory Lovins' plans - make it out of carbon fiber, reduce the weight down to less than 500 lbs, and give it a small engine. As far as I can tell, it's not even a hybrid!

The article says the car only has a 20hp engine, but has a top speed of 160km/h. Nice. This is what you get when you start building cars like you build planes.

Bring on the flex-fuel models! Hell, something this light might make a perfect all-electric vehicle.

Geez... that puts my 85MPG to shame! Looks like I may've found my next car come 2009.

Also, the Loremo will have a GT model with 50HP and 0-100 in 9 secs. All at a fuel economy rating of 2.7L/100km. That's friggin' awesome. That's about what I'm getting with my smart.

My dream car would probably a small, light, diesel plug-in hybrid. With whatever flex-fuel properties it needs to transparently handle biodiesel.

This car seems a good step in that direction.

What ever happened to an idea that was floating around in the 60's. The Gas Turbine engine.
