Harper the Spendthrift

I actually really like this idea, but has anyone tallied up the amount of money Harper the small-government Conservative has promised to spend between tax cuts and new spending? Because at a certain point we might have to check the pantry...

Oh, and I can't remember how I found this, but Chretien's supporters are apparently talking about a Conservative minority, too. So at least I'm not entirely insane.

I started to keep a tally of how much the three parties were handing out, but too many of the items didn't come with a total dollar amount of how much they would cost. Normally it's the conservatives who do this sort of thing, but I guess since Harper is promising to spend like a drunken sailor they don't want anyone to see it.

I believe the CPC have stated that their full platform with costings will be available for scrutiny in the new year.

Ditto the NDP? Dunno, haven't heard.

Liberals? Ha, ha, ha. Unbelievable even if they do post it.

Why spend any money at all on "militarizing" the Arctic? What are we going to do once the conservative sensors find a US sub, or our ice breaker (is it armed?) pulls up beside it?

Just spend the money on developing the Canadian Arctic ... if the USA wants to send subs up there it will be easier to claim it is ours is we have Canadians living in Arctic cities and towns than it would be to rely on a few sensors and ice breakers to enforce out claims.
