Interesting

A few days ago, Antonia Zerbisias put this up:
Blood on the floor at Rogers' 92.5 Jack FM today.

Morning man Rob Christie, afternoon drive guy Scot Turner, weekend jock Richard Charles, along with Larry Silver and all their producers have been shuffled off the premises....

Said program director Patrick Cardinal to me in an email
"They are all excellent broadcasters, but we've made a decision to differentiate ourselves by having no deejays. Toronto has over 20 radio stations available to listeners and the rest of them have deejays if that's what someone wants. JACK will be nothing but music.
I say this is interesting, because I thought the whole point of the Jack format was to get people - that is, live human talent - out of the radio business. So I was surprised when I turned on Bob FM (the local Jack variant) here in Ottawa and had to listen to idiotic prattling in the morning. With luck, that won't last long. Now, it would be even better if they'd make an MP3-playing alarm clock. But maybe that's too much to hope for.

In other broadcasting news, the CBC is apparently coming back soon. The guild and management have signed an agreement in principle, or something, and it looks like management caved. So the good guys win, kind of, and the guild members get a $1,000 signing bonus for coming back. Nice work! Now I can stop listening to crap radio again.

And when does the good television start again?
