Conservative Incompetence Continues Unabated

Liberals have 14-point lead over Tories: poll

OTTAWA (CTV) — The Liberals had a 14-point lead over the Conservatives in popular support, suggests a new poll taken earlier this month.

The Decima survey showed the Liberals with 37 per cent support and the Tories with 23 per cent, in a virtual dead heat with the NDP at 21 per cent.
Wow. If they can crack 40%, the Liberals will be back in majority territory for the next election. As is, we'd currently almost certainly see a strong NDP-Liberal coalition in Parliament.

Now, wait for how long it takes the Conservatives to whine about how stupid the Canadian people are, because that's certain to win elections. Of course, we can at least say the Conservatives are a party of principle, right? Oh, wait...
Opposition Leader Stephen Harper does not seem eager to force an election

OTTAWA (CP) - Opposition Leader Stephen Harper emerged from his weekly meeting with his Conservative caucus clearly not eager to force a general election....

While some Liberals have spoken of possibly voting against the government to bar passage of same-sex legislation, Harper said he would not urge them to do so.
But Stephen, didn't you vow to defeat this goverment as soon as possible? How can that be true, if you're unwilling to work with disillusioned Liberal backbenchers?

If any of you had any doubts, this is the clearest possible sign that it was never about "Liberal corruption" or "illegitimate government". It was Harper's ambition, pure and simple. Now he's going to lose the next election, and we might finally be able to get a working Parliament in this country again.

If the liberals did win a majority, i fail to see how that leads to a strong ndp-liberal coalition?

When I wrote "As is, we'd see a coalition" I meant that if the numbers stay where they are.

The numbers would have to go up for the Liberals to have a solid majority.

Obviously, if the Libs win a majority, then coalition=no.
