The majority report on science standards would require that students learn that biological evolution is a "scientific explanation for the history of the diversification of organisms from common ancestors."Is it just me, or are the floor-rolling tongue-speakers actually proposing a more accurate description of evolution than the majority? I suppose it's possible that accuracy would turn off the majority of Kansasians (Kansanites?) but still, you'd think the religious would want to put the words "Satanic" and "Homosexual" in their definition, just for good measure.
The minority report, however, wants students to learn that "biological evolution postulates an unpredictable and unguided natural process that has no discernible direction or goal. It also assumes that life arose from an unguided natural process."

Theocrats For Scientific Accuracy
Weird. Via Pandagon, we find that Kansas is still wrestling with their opposable thumbs:

Well, I would propose something like:
"Biological evolution is an emerging theroy based on an as-yet incomplete understanding of the manner in which genetics, environmental stresses, and other internal and external factors influence the development of organisms.
It is also wildly misunderstood on a conceptual level by the majority of the population - due in part to certain phrases attributed to Charles Darwin, which were in fact marketing jargon invented by his publisher.
However, despite these shortcomings, it is still better than believing some crap just because it was written in some moldy old book, you knuckle-dragging troglodyte."
But then I'm just picky like that, y'know?
