Oh Goody.

One more reason to dislike Dalton McGuinty and the Liberals.
For Sale: Ontario roads, transit

The Ontario government could allow private ownership of new infrastructure projects, including highways and transit systems, as part of the cash-strapped province’s search for new financing, Infrastructure Minister David Caplan said today....

Caplan did say Wednesday’s provincial budget will outline a five-year plan to find some of the estimated $100 billion needed to repair Ontario’s crumbling roads and bridges, update public transit systems, and build new hospitals, schools and courthouses.

The deficit-plagued government cannot afford to build everything with its own money as governments used to do, and will impose strict controls in contracts with any private firms to protect taxpayers’ from cost overruns, Caplan said.
Okay, this is ridiculous. The government could find $100b over the next decade relatively easily. Of course, Dalton was a moron and signed that idiotic no-tax pledge, meaning that a sensible spending agenda is off-limits. Oh, and preventing cost overruns? Give me a break.

Finally, notice that, at least in this article, there's no mention of whether or not the province plans to sell the hydro infrastructure. Wait and see - Dalton's gonna try and sell off HydroOne, just like the Tories.

God, why can't the NDP beat these guys with a stick?
