Ahh... all better

So I handed in my last essay last night. Thanks be to God.

I'm going to be away from home base for the weekend, but in the meantime, something that Steve Gilliard posted last week and I've been meaning to jump on:

"Iraqi Militants Dig In

For the third time in just over two weeks, U.S. and Iraqi Army troops fought extended battles against entrenched insurgents around Baghdad, officials said yesterday."

As the article (and Steve G) makes clear, this is a very bad thing for the US. If the insurgency is feeling confident enough to move from hit-and-run to stand-and-fight, this spells bad news in the future. The US is almost certainly killing far more Iraqis than they're losing in combat, but that really isn't the point. If the Iraqis are willing to fight in actual pitched battles for territory, then the US is in a nasty position.

I'll leave this for now, and just repeat my position on Iraq: The US should leave, now. The only thing they can do in Iraq is raise the number of dead on both sides.
