You, Sir, Are An Unmitigated Bastard

Vicki alerted me to this gem. Scott McLellan, spokesman for the White House, said in reference to the Terry Schiavo debacle:
"We ought to err on the side of life in a case like this."
Gee. What other cases might we want to err on the side of life? Say, unprovoked wars? Capital punishment? Low-cost medicine for the poor? Family planning? No? Not so much? Well, then I've got one last one for you, Scotty.

Why not err on the side of life when a hospital wants to end nonbeneficial treatment? Because then-Governor Bush signed a law allowing hospitals in Texas to cut off treatment. So... could the President tell us what's the difference between Texas and Florida? Moreover, why is Jeb Bush a more moral man than President Bush?
