Peak Oil Alarmism

Mike Ruppert of From the Wilderness has a piece titled "The Fire Is No Longer On It's Way, It Has Begun." Basically, it's a piece of chicken little-ism that is trying to scare the crap out of people. Fine, if that's what you want. But let's understand the nature of the Peak Oil problem. The oil isn't going to stop flowing. Wells will go in to decline, but we're not facing imminent catastrophe. What we're facing is the end of cheap oil, not the end of civilization as we know it.

The problem is not going to be peak oil per se, but rather our reaction to peak oil. If the US decides to try and bomb the world in to submission, we're in trouble. But that's not the fault of the hydrocarbons.
