Al-Jazeera, II

In comments, Adam recommended Control Room, the documentary about Al-Jazeera's coverage of the Iraq War. It was on Newsworld a few weeks back, and I would absolutely second Adam's recommendation.

One of the odder things to me in that film, however, was the despondence on various Jazeera reporters' faces as Baghdad fell. Now, I don't expect them to join in pro-American chest-thumping, but they (to my eyes) seemed to actually have thought another outcome was possible. I didn't want to see the war start, but was there any serious alternative to the outcome once it did start? I would have thought journalists would have been more realistic.

Looks like naive, self-deluding journalists are the same, worldwide.

It's a small world, after all...
