Why shitty you ask? Well, as Andre perceptively wrote back when Arafat died, this means that Bush will be "Reaganed" in the sense that, despite having no actual connection to the conflict or it's resolution, Bush is likely to be credited with "making peace in the Middle East", just as Reagan was credited with ending the Cold War and "beating the Soviet Union", or come shit like that. As good as the news of a chance for peace in Palestine is, I would hate to see Bush get credit for something he's actually hindered a great deal.
Not that we're even close to that point yet. Even if the cease-fire holds, we're only back to the point we were at before Clinton left office. Admittedly, with Arafat dead things look much more promising then they did back in 2000.
