Two Maps

I have two maps on my wall. The first map is a composite picture of the Earth at night, taken over one year. It's really a fascinating picture, as it instantly depicts many of the problems of our world - deforestation (from vast forest fires), energy consumption (from the bright white spots) and massive poverty (from the far larger dark spots.)

The second map is a map of Mars. Which is also fascinating, as it leads to conversations like this:

Vicki: Why aren't there bright spots on Mars?
Me: Because there's no life on Mars.
Vicki: THAT'S THE WRONG ANSWER!!!
Me: Because all the Martians live underground?
Vicki: Yay! That's the right answer!
