Middle-Eastern Politics Checklist

Confused about who the good guys and bad guys are in the Middle East? Well, wonder no more. Here, courtesy of the fine staff at Dymaxion World (me and a pot of tea), is a quick and easy reference for Middle Eastern and some Asian governments.

Taliban-era Afghanistan (Pre-9/11), a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist state that oppresses women and harbors terrorists: Not worth going to war over.
Taliban-era Afghanistan (Post-9/11), a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist state that oppresses women and harbors terrorists: Definitely worth going to war over.
Saudi Arabia, a Sunni Islamic fundamentalist state that oppresses women and harbors terrorists: Our partners in peace.

Hussein-era Iraq, An unstable dictatorship determined to acquire weapons of mass destruction: Bad.
Musharraf-led Pakistan, an unstable dictatorship that has weapons of mass destruction: Good.

Hussein-era Iraq, a government which carried out a genocidal campaign against the Kurdish minority: Bad.
Turkey, a government which carried out a genocidal campaign against its Kurdish minority: Very, very good.

Saddam Hussein's war for control of Iranian oil: Good. Can we give you some chemical weapons to help?
Saddam Hussein's war for Kuwaiti oil: (To quote Bill Hicks) Let's go! He's a Hitler, Here's a fetus, let's go!

Saddam Hussein, a dictator who tortured his subjects in some of the most vile ways imaginable: Bad.
Islam Karimov, a dictator who tortures his subjects in some of the most vile ways imaginable: Good.

Any other suggestions?
