Turkey Warns of Possible "Action" in Kirkuk
The site is one I don't know, but they're crediting AFP. Still, this is hardly unexpected. The Kurds want the oil-rich cities of Kirkuk and Mosul, but neither the Sunnis or Turkey wants that to happen (to put it mildly.) Come to think about it, Syria probably wouldn't be wild about it, and Iran has a bad history of Iraqis taking it's oil, so probably doesn't want to see Kurdistan born out of an oil-grab.
Interesting question: Will Iraqi nationalism override sectarian concerns? That is, will Sunnis and Shias intervene to protect Kurds? If they do and succeed, "oweing" the Shia and Sunni could take the wind out of Kurdish nationalism.
Of course, hard to say what any Iraqi can do against Turkey while the US is there.
