LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jazz composer Maria Schneider took home a Grammy on Sunday for her album "Concert in the Garden," without selling a single copy in a record store.Brilliant. Let the RIAA choke on its own hubris. I've been wondering when someone would start cutting out the big labels and the big retailers. Look's like someone's already started.
I'm also happy to see that I found this link on www.dailykos.com, an American left-wing site. The future of Intellectual Property is going to be incredibly important in the next decade (and beyond) and the left needs to start thinking about these issues - which it has already started doing. At the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, one of the major demands was for more open source software. Great news all around.
